Authors: Ray Stanley, Sandra Reynolds, Corri Baker and Hilary Coleman "The Elements of Senior Chemistry" is a workbook written for the International Baccalaureate Chemistry Program. The book assumes no chemistry knowledge and teaches to a first year university level. At a time when the number of students studying science subjects continues to decline, I was extremely enthusiastic about writing a book that is easy to understand, interesting, and made the study of chemistry relevant and enjoyable. Along with clear, concise text and definitions, concepts of chemistry are communicated through diagrams, tables, worked examples and real life paradigms. The book includes information about famous scientists who have contributed immensely to our everyday way of living, as well as quirky "did you know" sections. While writing the content, beneficial experiences to draw upon were the difficulties that I experienced when learning chemistry, which at first seems such an obscure, intangible subject, virtually impossible even to visualise at times. As well as Year 11 & 12 students taking the SACE and IB courses, the book has sold extremely well to first year Chemistry university students, as well as many students who require knowledge of chemistry for the GAMSAT.
